Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a part-time phlebotomist to join the IL ACL Laboratories - Lutheran: Phlebotomy team. You will verify patient IDs, perform venipuncture, and collect specimens across age groups to ensure accurate testing.

The position requires a high school diploma and 1 year of phlebotomy experience. This role supports 20 hours per week with a day shift and rotating weekends/holidays, and includes basic computer use and strong communication responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Verifies patient identification and ensures patient safety.
• Performs venipuncture and collects specimens from patients of all ages.
• Obtains specimens according to priority and scheduled draw times.
• Ensures specimens are properly labeled and suitable for testing.
• Answers and screens telephone calls; assists with inventory and supplies.
• Accepts specimens from internal and external customers; responds to requests.
• Orders and verifies test requests; documents information for QA/I.
• Reviews pending and management reports; distributes reports.
• Provides support in Billing and other business functions.
• Instructs employees and students in phlebotomy and data entry.
• Provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
