Job summary

Keck Hospital of USC is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support the department by procuring blood samples, preserving specimen integrity, and handling clerical tasks. You will participate in sample processing, reporting, and interdepartmental communication within a leading academic medical center.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate from an accredited Phlebotomy Program.
• 1 year experience in phlebotomy (preferably in an acute care facility).
• Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Obtains blood sample specimens by venipuncture or capillary methods.
• Receives and screens specimens per guidelines.
• Delivers blood products to Surgery and specimens to appropriate sections.
• Processes, distributes or packages all specimens received (except Anatomic Pathology).
• Answers inquiries for lab results, specimen status and general information.
