Job summary

LCMC Health is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support waived testing, specimen collection, and routine laboratory functions at East Jefferson General Hospital. The role includes venipuncture, specimen labeling with proper identifiers, and adherence to SOPs for patient safety and accuracy.

This position requires high school diploma or equivalent, prior lab assistant experience preferred, and Basic Life Support certification per addendum requirements. Weekend shifts may apply.

Qualifications

• Previous lab assistant experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Patient Testing: Performs waived patient testing
• General Laboratory: Performs daily temperature checks, analyzer maintenance, calibrations, and quality control for waived tests performed
• Specimen Collection: Performs venipuncture and skin puncture on all patient age groups in accordance with SOP
• Inventory Management: Ensures specimen collection supplies are available and within expiration dates
• Workload Management: Adheres to SOP in using handheld devices for specimen collection
• Quality Assurance Related Duties: Communicates complaints or problems to department supervisor
