Job summary

Qualifications

• Requires high school or equivalent and specialized/technical training in phlebotomy.
• Graduate from an accredited phlebotomy program.
• Minimum 1 year experience in phlebotomy, preferably in acute care.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Prefers experience in phlebotomy.
• Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) per CA DPH.
• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) required or to be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Obtains blood samples by venipuncture or capillary methods.
• Receives and screens specimens per guidelines.
• Delivers blood products and surgical specimens to appropriate sections.
• Processes and packages specimens.
• Handles inquiries about lab results and specimen status.
• Communicates professionally with patients and staff.
• Adheres to hospital and department policies.
• Participates in Quality Improvement activities.
