HCA Florida North Florida Hospital in Gainesville is seeking a Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomist to support specimen collection, processing, and patient registration. You will perform venipunctures or finger sticks, label and prepare specimens, and assist with documentation while following procedures and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Ability to interact with co-workers in a team environment and provide excellent customer service.
• 2+ years experience in registration, clerical duties and specimen processing preferred.
• Follow safety policies and protect patient privacy and confidentiality.
• Communicate accurately and timely technical information to staff and physicians.
• Available to work during disasters as needed.
• Certified phlebotomy or related certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens and ensure proper labeling and documentation.
• Process and register specimens, and enter orders accurately.
• Maintain specimen collection procedures and patient identification protocols.
• Centrifuge, aliquot and prepare specimens for testing as required.
• Disaster readiness and adherence to department performance goals.
• Support laboratory operations with clerical duties and specimen handoffs.
• Monitor OSR status and resolve pending specimen collection issues.
• Communicate and troubleshoot specimen problems promptly.
