Job summary

UF Health Jacksonville Hospital is seeking a dedicated lab support professional to perform phlebotomy, specimen processing, registration, and clerical duties to ensure accurate specimen handling and patient service.

Responsibilities include loading the automated line, prioritizing specimens, and preparing samples for testing or reference lab transport. This role requires strong communication, data entry, and adherence to safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Preferred: medical assistant program, military medical, or laboratory assistant program certification.
• Less than one year healthcare experience preferred.
• Phlebotomy and specimen processing experience preferred.
• Experience with a Laboratory Information System (LIS).

Responsibilities

• Process and register specimens for clinical and AP pathways.
• Load specimens onto automated line and troubleshoot alarms.
• Prioritize and manage specimens including outreach and research accounts.
• Prepare specimens for testing and transport to reference labs as needed.
• Follow PPE and safety protocols for specimens.
• Maintain logs and complete mandatory training and meetings.
