Job summary

Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Idaho is seeking a Lab Supervisor to plan, manage, and supervise the phlebotomy department, ensuring quality, procedures, costs, and staffing meet regulatory standards.

The role collaborates with pathologists, nurses, and physicians, hires and trains staff, schedules work, maintains procedures, and drives continuous improvement in lab testing and patient care.

Qualifications

• ASCP/AMT or equivalent certification required/preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science, chemistry, biochemistry, biology or health-related field required.
• Specialty certification for the laboratory section(s) preferred.
• 3 years of experience in a specialty area preferred.

Responsibilities

• Hires, trains, orients, and mentors department staff.
• Plans and coordinates work schedules for adequate coverage.
• Ensures timely and accurate testing results per regulatory standards.
• Maintains quality assurance and proficiency testing programs.
• Communicates with pathologists, nurses, clinicians and units to ensure quality testing.
• Manages department resources and budget within constraints.
