Job summary

Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to manage specimen receipt, processing, and storage while performing clerical and pre-analytic duties. You will use several computer systems daily and contribute to a precise, efficient lab workflow.

Schedule details include a 2:00pm-10:30pm shift, Full Time status, 80 hours per pay period, and every other weekend. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Knowledge of laboratory functions and medical terminology preferred.
• Background in science and 1-2 years medical experience is preferred, but not required.
• Experience reading specimen labels and working with numbers to prevent mislabeling.
• Must be organized, able to prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in written form.

Responsibilities

• Receive, identify, process, and store biological specimens (e.g., blood, urine).
• Perform clerical, pre-analytic processing, and other lab duties.
• Maintain supply inventory, file, stock, receive shipments, and clean work areas.
• Work with various computer information systems daily.
