Job summary

Capital Health is seeking a patient care technician who will assist licensed staff in delivering direct and indirect care. The role includes phlebotomy, glucometer testing and EKG responsibilities, with clerical duties and unit support as required.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and AHA BLS. EMT, PCA, medical assistant training, or nursing course completion are acceptable pathways.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalency.
• Experience: EMT or EMT Academy, military medic, PCA in acute care or long-term care, completion of medical assistant program, or two clinical nursing semesters.
• Certifications: AHA BLS. Non-Licensed must obtain before end of orientation period.

Responsibilities

• Provides for safety aspects of patient care including restraints, transfer techniques, falls precautions, and emergency response.
• Provides personal care under RN direction (bathing, mouth care, evening care, incontinence care).
• Applies dressings, slings, splints, antiembolism stockings under RN direction.
• Collects stool, urine, and sputum samples timely.
• Records intake/output and maintains logs.
• Feeds and monitors tube feedings, delivers nourishment, counts calories.
• Documents observations in patient records and reports to RN.
• Assists with CPR under RN/Physician supervision.
• Performs phlebotomy, glucometer testing, EKGs, and records vitals.
• Stocks supplies and maintains a clean, organized environment.
