Job summary

Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN, is seeking a Phlebotomist for a Full Time role (40 hours/week). You will perform venipuncture and capillary draws, ensure accurate patient identification, and transport specimens to the lab while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities include labeling specimens, communicating procedures to patients, and adhering to infection control policies. 1p-9:30p shift with weekend/holiday rotation; benefits provided and sign-on bonus available.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years phlebotomy experience required.
• Ability to perform blood collection across age groups (neonates to geriatrics).
• Knowledge of patient identification, specimen handling, and lab testing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture and capillary blood collection per policies to ensure timely specimens.
• Ensures positive patient identification and proper labeling at bedside.
• Prepares, packages, and transports specimens to the laboratory while maintaining sample integrity.
• Explains procedures to patients to ensure a positive experience and reduce anxiety.
• Cleans, sterilizes, and maintains phlebotomy equipment and workspace according to safety standards.
• Documents patient and specimen information accurately in the laboratory system.
