Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection per policies.
• Ensure positive patient identification with two identifiers and bedside labeling.
• Prepare, package, and transport specimens following safety protocols.
• Explain procedures to patients to provide reassurance and address concerns.
• Sterilize and maintain phlebotomy equipment and workspace per infection control standards.
• Document patient and specimen information accurately in the lab system.
• Collect timed specimens as ordered and prioritize tasks to meet clinical needs.
• Identify and resolve specimen issues, including rejections and recollections.
