Responsibilities

• Verify test requisitions by comparing information with nursing station log; report discrepancies.
• Verify patient identity before collection.
• Obtain blood specimens by venipuncture and fingerstick.
• Maintain specimen integrity using aseptic technique and proper handling.
• Track collected specimens with date, time and initials; maintain daily tallies.
• Enter bleeding-time results and notify pathologist if outside normal range.
• Maintain quality-control logs and document needed changes.
• Maintain a safe, secure, and compliant work environment.
