Job summary

Preferred Primary Care Physicians is currently recruiting for a full- time Phlebotomist in one of our practices in the McMurray area. Prior physician office experience preferred.

Ideal candidate must be comfortable working on a computer and have the ability to multi-task in a fast paced working environment.

Qualifications

• Prior physician office experience preferred.
• Ideal candidate must be comfortable working on a computer and able to multi-task in a fast paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Verifies test requisitions by comparing information with nursing station log and notifies discrepancies.
• Verifies patient by reading patient identification.
• Obtains blood specimens by venipuncture and fingerstick.
• Maintains specimen integrity using aseptic technique and department procedures.
• Tracks collected specimens by initialling, dating, and noting times of collection.
• Performs bleeding-times tests and notifies pathologist of abnormal results.
• Maintains quality results by recording results in the quality-control log and reporting needed changes.
• Maintains a safe, healthy work environment by following standards and regulations.
