Qualifications

• 2+ years of phlebotomy experience and blood draw proficiency.
• Proficient venipuncture with straight and butterfly needles.
• Experience with pediatric blood draws and specimen collection.
• Hands-on specimen processing: labeling, centrifuging, splitting and packaging.
• Ability to verify orders and match requisitions to tubes.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA/DEP regulations and safety practices.
• Customer service skills for patients and healthcare staff.
• Accurate updating of patient information and records.
• Educational background: HS diploma/GED and state phlebotomy certification.
• 2-4 years in phlebotomy or related clinical lab role.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws using venipuncture techniques for patients of all ages.
• Collect and store blood and other specimens per established procedures.
• Explain the venipuncture and collection process clearly to patients.
• Match requisition forms to specimen tubes for correct test ordering.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens per test orders.
• Verify test requisitions against physician orders for accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport while preserving integrity.
• Update patient information accurately in the system.
• Record maintenance data and perform decontamination tasks as required.
• Understand physicians' orders to ensure correct tests and procedures.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations; participate in trainings.
• Assist with troubleshooting and suggest process improvements.
• Provide courteous, patient-focused service throughout collection and processing.
