Job summary

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy certification or CMA certification; 1+ year phlebotomy experience.
• Experience with phlebotomy and processing lab specimens.
• Familiar with EMR systems and medical terminology.
• Knowledge of basic safety and patient-care practices.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and other lab specimen collections per age related standards and in accordance with departmental policies.
• Demonstrates AIDET model and optimizes patient safety to reduce errors.
• Receives and reviews physician orders; ensures complete information for lab services.
• Patient communication and post-phlebotomy patient care.
• Processes specimens with labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, and packaging for transport.
• Maintains records and reports issues to supervisor.
• Operates lab equipment and follows up on orders and results.
• Notifies labs/physicians of problems with specimen procurement.
• Maintains safe work environment and proper waste handling.
• Performs clerical duties, inventory management, and uses EMR systems.
