Job summary

Key People in Columbia, MD is seeking a Phlebotomist for a contract role with the potential to become permanent. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m., with an estimated duration of 3 months and potential conversion.

The ideal candidate has 2–4 years of diagnostic phlebotomy experience, including pediatric and geriatric patient handling, and holds a valid phlebotomy certification. Responsibilities include blood draws, specimen labeling, and proper transport procedures.

Qualifications

• Valid state phlebotomy certification where employed.
• Minimum 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws and venipuncture.
• Label specimens and centrifuge as required.
• Record maintenance data and decontamination.
• Update patient information and test requisitions.
• Package specimens for transport and store at required temperatures.
• Explain venipuncture process clearly to patients.
• Attend annual department trainings and comply with OSHA/DEP regulations.
• Answer calls and read results to satisfy inquiries.
