Connectly Recruiting is seeking a Phlebotomist for a contract role in Columbia, MD. The position involves blood draws and specimen handling with an emphasis on accuracy and patient communication.

Schedule is M-F 8a-5p, with a projected duration of 3 months and potential for permanent employment. Qualified candidates will have 2+ years of phlebotomy experience, valid certification, and proficiency with basic office software.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2 years of phlebotomy experience.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain in a clear but courteous manner the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection as required.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles or butterfly needles.
• Ensure all test requisitions or computer labels match scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport and store samples according to protocol.
• Follow OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings.
