Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health in New Jersey is seeking a Phlebotomist to collect blood from pediatric, adult and geriatric patients under supervision, and to prepare specimens for courier pickup and lab testing. Responsibilities include venipuncture and finger sticks, dipstick urinalysis, specimen labeling, data entry, and reporting results to providers in a timely, accurate manner.

Requirements: high school diploma or equivalent, at least six months phlebotomy experience, and BLS certification

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Six months phlebotomy experience.
• BLS certification through American Heart Association within one year.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patient flow.
• Perform venipuncture and finger stick phlebotomy; spin blood and prepare specimens for courier pickup/laboratory testing.
• Perform dipstick urinalysis; collect urine and throat culture specimens and prepare for submission to the Laboratory.
• Perform urine pregnancy tests and stool hematests.
• Perform testing (e.g. ECGs, spirometry, Holter monitor, vision and hearing tests).
• Maintain laboratory area, housekeeping, waste handling and restocking.
