Job Description
- The Phlebotomist Patient Services Representative (PSR II) represents the face of our company to patients who come in, both as part of their health routine or for insights into life-defining health decisions.
- The PSR II draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares those specimens for lab testing following established practices and procedures.
- The PSR II has direct contact with patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens skillfully, safely, and accurately.
- The PSR II demonstrates leadership behaviors, focusing on process excellence and maintaining confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.
- Successful applicants may be assigned to a doctor's office, a patient service center, or as dictated by business needs.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the supervision of the area supervisor.
- Maintain a safe and professional environment.
- Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties confidently, following established practices and procedures.
- Verify patient demographic information and initials, including post-venipuncture signature, to ensure proper labeling and identification.
- Maintain required records and documentation.
- Promote a positive image and demonstrate organizational commitment to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
Job Requirements
- Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.
- Adherence to all policies and procedures, including dress code, safety, and guiding principles.
- Good judgment and decision-making skills based on established procedures.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and a clean driving record if applicable.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours across multiple locations with minimal notice.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
- Superior customer focus, open communication, adaptability to change, and knowledge of our business.
- Training locations may vary based on trainer availability.
Required Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred, required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Work Experience
- Minimum three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Preferred two years in a Patient Service Center environment.
- Customer service experience in retail or service sectors is preferred.
- Keyboard/data entry experience.
