Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; accredited phlebotomy training preferred.
• Certification as Phlebotomy Technician required within 6 months.
• Minimum 1 year of phlebotomy experience in clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections on patients of all ages, following protocols for sample integrity and patient comfort.
• Verify patient identity, explain procedures, and obtain informed consent prior to collections.
• Label, process, and transport specimens accurately to the laboratory, maintaining chain-of-custody documentation.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper disposal of biohazardous waste and sharps.
• Assist with inventory management of phlebotomy supplies and equipment.
• Enter patient data and test requests into EHR systems with high accuracy.
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and lab technicians to ensure seamless patient care.
• Participate in quality assurance activities, such as proficiency testing and equipment calibration.
• Adhere to all Southeast Medical Group policies and procedures, including HIPAA and safety.
