Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years as a phlebotomist; certification required within 6 months of hire.
• Experience in customer service or patient care.
• Laboratory (clinical) setting experience.
• Comfortable handling biological specimens and PPE.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and specimen identification.
• Team-oriented with strong data entry and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate collection, processing and shipping of specimens (urine, blood, etc.).
• Identify patients and follow collection procedures accurately.
• Enter outpatient orders into the Laboratory Information System.
• Register patients with demographic and clinical data in the LIS.
• Prepare specimens and maintain sample integrity for testing.
• Distribute specimens to appropriate laboratory sections.
• Follow universal precautions and OSHA standards during handling.
• Interact professionally with patients, physicians, and staff.
