St. Mary’s Hospital – Madison

Part Time Positions

Hours: Part-time schedule working between 8 and 24 hours per week.

AM Schedule: Positions available with 4-hour shifts starting at 3:00am

PM Schedule: Positions available with 8-hour shifts starting at 12:00pm

All positions require an every other weekend rotation and holiday rotation.

A sign-on bonus of up to $2,500 (less taxes) is available to qualified individuals with a 2-year service commitment for positions of at least 20 hours per week. This bonus is not available for PRN positions.

Job Summary

Under specific direction, collects and prepares blood specimens and other samples for laboratory testing. Maintains collection areas and equipment and performs record-keeping duties.

Primary Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

• Collect blood specimens by venipuncture and capillary technique and process samples according to laboratory guidelines.
• Deliver samples to the laboratory within established time frames.
• May perform waived testing.
• May perform administrative duties to support the department.
• Identify patients using two identifiers.
• Work in a constant state of alertness and safety.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

• High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience.

Experience

• No experience required.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
• Use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far, and to distinguish colors.
• Use of hearing and speech for communication, including hearing alarms and machinery sounds.
• Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
• Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and gripping.
• Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
• Rare climbing.
