An established industry player is seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist to join their team in West Warwick. This part-time role involves obtaining blood and patient specimens, ensuring accurate documentation, and providing patient-centered care. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, along with phlebotomy certification. You'll be responsible for managing patient registration, performing venipunctures, and maintaining compliance with hospital policies. Under supervision of the Manager Laboratory Outreach Services or guidance of the Lead Phlebotomist, performs responsibilities associated with obtaining blood and various other patient specimens in accordance with department procedures. Obtains samples ordered by physicians for routine and specialized tests on assigned units. Takes samples from pediatric and adult patients on outpatient units. Transports specimens and completes basic records. Fosters patient and family-centered care and nursing services in accordance with the Brown University Health and The Miriam Hospital's mission, vision, and values, considering all developmental stages and cultural patterns.
High school diploma or GED required. Phlebotomy certification through a recognized agency or completion of a phlebotomy program with internship (or equivalent experience) is required.
Ability to perform venipuncture and capillary puncture on all age groups. Strong interpersonal, clerical, and technical skills. Knowledge of blood collection equipment and procedures. Certification in phlebotomy required.
Involves inpatient care environment with walking and physical effort, exposure to odors and communicable diseases, manual dexterity for venipuncture, and ability to distinguish colors.
