Job summary

Software Placement Group in Tooele, UT, is seeking a Phlebotomist to support specimen collection and lab workflow operations. This contract, with potential for permanent placement, emphasizes accurate handling of samples and adherence to safety standards.

You will perform blood draws, labeling, centrifugation, and data entry, while following physician orders and safety regulations. Geriatric experience and a valid phlebotomy certification are required, with benefits available.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
• Minimum 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Minimum 1 year of experience.
• Geriatric experience required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge samples, and record maintenance data and decontamination activities
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures
• Clearly and courteously explain venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures to patients
• Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles
• Fully understand and follow physicians' orders
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order
• Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure complete accuracy
• Package specimens for transport
• Store specimen samples at required temperatures, place in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label, and follow protocols to maintain specimen integrity during transport
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
• Attend annual department training
• Answer telephone calls and relay laboratory results to satisfy inquiries
• Assist with troubleshooting, training, and workflow recommendations
