Job summary

Software Placement Group is seeking a Phlebotomist on a contract basis for 3 months, with potential for permanent placement, to support its laboratory team in Shelby, NC. The role focuses on accurate specimen collection and processing to aid patient care and diagnostic testing.

The ideal candidate holds a state phlebotomy certification, has at least 6 months of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital, and is proficient with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Valid phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, where required.
• Minimum 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting
• Minimum 1 year of experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and complete decontamination procedures
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures
• Explain the venipuncture and/or other specimen collection process to patients
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles
• Fulfill physicians' orders
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order
• Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for 100% accuracy
• Package specimens for transport and store samples at required temperatures
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
• Attend annual department trainings
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries
