Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience.
  • Geriatric experience required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

  • Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge samples, and record maintenance data and decontamination activities
  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures
  • Clearly and courteously explain venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures to patients
  • Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles
  • Fully understand and follow physicians' orders
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order
  • Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure complete accuracy
  • Package specimens for transport
  • Store specimen samples at required temperatures, place in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label, and follow protocols to maintain specimen integrity during transport
  • Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
  • Attend annual department training
  • Answer telephone calls and relay laboratory results to satisfy inquiries
  • Assist with troubleshooting, training, and workflow recommendations

Location: Tooele, UT | Schedule: Full-time, on-site, Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm (contract, 3 months with potential for permanent placement)

Overview

A healthcare services provider is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to support specimen collection and lab workflow operations. This role is critical to ensuring accurate, timely, and properly handled blood and specimen samples for patient care and diagnostic testing.

What you'll do
  • Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge samples, and record maintenance data and decontamination activities

  • Demonstrate proper technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles
