Job summary

TriCore Reference Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM is hiring a Clinical Lab Assistant - Phlebotomist at Presbyterian Hospital. Schedule: Saturday–Sunday 0200-1230 with weekends, holidays, on-calls, and other shifts as needed.

The CL Assistant Phlebotomist can work independently with minimal supervision. Compensation depends on modalities performed; apprenticeship may be offered to those without experience. Regular attendance is essential.

Qualifications

• H.S. diploma or equivalent.
• PBT (ASCP) or equivalent certification.
• Completion of a relevant Clinical Lab Assistant or comparable program.
• Immunization: Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination or waiver; PPD test within 90 days or per TriCore.
• Direct patient contact: immunization against rubella, rubeola, varicella.
• Valid driver's license and insurable by lab carrier.
• Eligible to work in a health care facility per NM Caregivers Act.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties in a professional and courteous manner.
• Maintains supplies and inventory necessary to perform departmental functions.
• Observe students and/or new staff as needed.
• Exhibit basic problem solving skills to ensure exceptional customer and patient care service levels.
• Responsible for hospital communication responsibilities including on-call duties by location.
• Demonstrates effective telephone and verbal communication skills.
• Exhibits professional judgment when dealing with clients, patients and co-workers.
• Performs clerical functions including documenting critical communications when supervisor is absent.
• Maintains confidentiality of position and access to personal information.
• Participates in coverage for on-call to meet service levels.
• Participates in coverage for holidays, evenings, and weekends as needed.
• Basic PC skills.

Education
