Job summary

Mountainview Hospital, Inc. is seeking a Phlebotomist/Laboratory Assistant based in the Laboratory.

You will be responsible for the skillful collection of blood samples, blood culture samples, and other body fluids from neonatal to geriatric patients, in a team-oriented environment. Duties include specimen processing, answering phones, preparing specimens for reference labs, loading instruments, faxing results, and performing front-desk duties such as admitting patients, greeting visitors, and

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED.
• Certified by the State of Nevada as a Laboratory Assistant or eligible to apply.
• Valid Phlebotomy certificate.
• Formal training as Medical Assistant or accredited Phlebotomy Training Program preferred.
• Excellent communication skills required.
• Medical Terminology and computer knowledge.
• CPR certification preferred.
• 6 months of clinical laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Specimen collection of blood, blood cultures, and body fluids.
• Processing specimens, handling calls, and faxing results per policy.
• Admitting, filing, greeting patients, and answering phones as lab secretary.
• Prepare specimens for reference lab couriers and maintain drawing room stock.
• Utilize Meditech and lab equipment; keep processing and drawing areas clean.
• Adhere to established policies and procedures.
