Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomist Weirton Medical
Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist undertakes laboratory, clerical and telephone duties with the Laboratory area. Collects and processes specimens to help physicians diagnose diseases. Prepares specimens, carries out basic laboratory procedures and performs waived testing. Mix chemical solutions and order/store supplies. Assist each Laboratory department with their needs including specimen processing, planting, processing and send outs.
Uses centrifuges, measuring devices and laboratory glassware. Make minor repairs and simple adjustments to laboratory equipment. Clean equipment, lab areas and instruments.
Performs phlebotomy duties when requested.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY
Certification as a trained phlebotomist in the state of West Virginia. Knowledge of medical terminology, the use of computers for word processing/data base. Knowledge of laboratory equipment and procedures. Must have valid WV Clinical Laboratory Practitioner licensure.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of one year laboratory experience required. Minimum one year of experience as a phlebotomist required.
