Job description

Prep Lab Assistant - Pittsburgh, PA - Tuesday - Saturday 9:30am-6:00pm

Position provides support for the assigned lab department.

Pay Range: Minimum of $18.00+ per hour

Salary offers are based on skills, training, experience, education, certifications, market, and organizational factors. Successful candidates may be eligible for an annual performance bonus.

Responsibilities include:

1. Picking up and sorting samples into appropriate racks.
2. Answering calls and directing them appropriately.
3. Unpacking and storing reagents and supplies.
4. Managing inventory and ordering supplies.
5. Handling samples and managing the specimen library.
6. Decontaminating work areas and maintaining cleanliness.
7. Performing waived tests under supervision.
8. Maintaining work areas and following PPE requirements.
9. Maintaining laboratory equipment and performing QA/QC duties.
10. Processing samples for various tests including urinalysis, microbiology, DNA probes, and others.
11. Using laboratory computer systems for labeling, inquiry, crediting, and results.
12. Disposing of biohazardous and chemical waste properly.
13. Completing forms and documentation accurately.
14. Assisting with quality and process improvement projects.
15. Setting up media and supplies for work areas.
16. Completing training and competency testing.
17. Disposing of specimens weekly.
18. Performing other duties as assigned.
