Job summary

Southwest Health System in Cortez, CO is seeking a Lab Aide (Phlebotomist) to collect high-quality specimens and support smooth lab flow, enabling fast, accurate patient care. You will perform venipunctures and skin punctures safely and efficiently, with a steady, reassuring presence.

You will register patients and specimens, understand test requirements, assist the Clinical Laboratory, and help keep documentation tidy and labels accurate.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy certification preferred.
• Current BLS CPR certification required/best practice.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipunctures and skin punctures safely, efficiently, and with a steady, reassuring presence.
• Understand test requirements; assist the Clinical Laboratory as needed.
• Complete bleeding time tests, blood cultures, and blood sample collection per protocol.
• Register patients/specimens according to hospital policy.
