The Iowa Clinic in West Des Moines, IA is seeking a Phlebotomist to join our team. You will obtain blood specimens, label and prepare samples, and support laboratory processes while following clinic policies and infection control standards.

• Phlebotomy certification preferred.

• Demonstrates ability to consistently meet work schedule demands in the clinic.
• Obtains adequate blood specimens from patients using appropriate specimen collection and handling procedures.
• Labels all specimens in accordance with clinical laboratory standards and Clinic policies and procedures.
• Prepares specimens for delivery or delivers to appropriate laboratory areas.
• Performs laboratory testing utilizing laboratory equipment in accordance with Clinic policies/procedures and manufacturer guidelines.
• Performs computer functions to support collection and processing of specimens.
• Maintains awareness of own safety in carrying out duties and infection control policies.
• Assumes accountability for enhancing own knowledge through workshops, inservices, etc.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and uses discretion in patient interactions.
• Promotes a positive, professional image of The Iowa Clinic both internally and externally.

• Maintains awareness of own safety in carrying out duties and responsibilities. Adheres to universal precautions and infection control policies and procedures.
• Assumes accountability for enhancing own knowledge through workshops, inservices, etc.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and uses discretion in patient interactions.
• Promotes a positive, professional image of The Iowa Clinic both internally and externally. Promotes positive interpersonal relations with all personnel.
