Job summary

The Iowa Clinic in West Des Moines is hiring a CMA/LPN/RN in OB/Gyn to deliver professional nursing care, assess needs and support physicians with patient care in a busy clinic. You’ll provide compassionate care across OB/Gyn services and coordinate patient plans with the team.

This daytime role features four 9-hour shifts per week, standard clinic hours, and a comprehensive benefits package including PTO, health, dental and vision insurance, retirement options, and ongoing training.

Qualifications

  • Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse or LPN by the State of Iowa, or Certified as a Medical Assistant (AAMA).
  • Knowledge of nursing techniques, procedures, medical diagnoses and treatments.
  • Exceptional patient skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain records and to assist physicians in a professional manner.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing services for patients of assigned physician(s) following standards and clinic procedures.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' care needs.
  • Assist providers with patient triage and formulate initial plans of care.
  • Spend time with patients to listen and understand their needs.
  • Manage return patient calls and ensure patients feel valued and cared for.
  • Work the agreed day shifts and conclude with standard clinic hours.

A day in the life

Wondering what a day in the life ofCMA/LPN/RNinOB/Gynat The Iowa Clinic might look like?

  • Arrive at work in the morning – no night shifts here!
  • Schedule: Four 9-hour shifts per week
  • Provides professional nursing services for patients of assigned physician(s), following established nursing practice standards and medical office hospital procedures
  • Conducts comprehensive assessments of patient's care needs
  • Assists provider(s) with patient triage, identifies nursing diagnoses or problem lists and formulates an initial plan of care based on assessment data
  • Spend enough time with your patients to listen to them and get to know them
  • Participate in a department potluck or team building activity over lunch
  • Visit The Iowa Clinic intranet to see what volunteer opportunities are available to you this month and read what is happening around the clinic
  • Return patient calls and ensure all patients feel valued and cared for
  • Leave in the evening – hooray for working standard clinic hours!

** This position will support provider Dr. McEntaffer at our West Des Moines and Waukee locations and occasionally our Ankeny location.
