Job summary

The Iowa Clinic is seeking an Infusion Center Registered Nurse to join our Central Iowa team in West Des Moines. You will assess, plan and administer infusion therapies, and collaborate with pharmacists and providers to ensure safe patient care.

Ideal candidates have at least 3 years of infusion RN experience, an Iowa RN license, BLS, and strong IV skills. We offer comprehensive benefits and a supportive, physician-led work environment.

Qualifications

• Associates degree required.
• Minimum 3 years RN experience in infusion services preferred.
• BLS certification required.
• RN license in Iowa and Mandatory Reporter certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care.
• Review treatment plans for completeness and accuracy prior to administration.
• Verify lab values, treatment parameters, and provider orders before administering medications.
• Collaborate with pharmacists, providers, and care staff to ensure safe patient care.
• Administer infusion therapies per physician orders and policies.
• Maintain ports and vascular access devices; initiate peripheral IV access as appropriate.
• Document assessments, interventions, and education in the EMR.
• Prepare infusion medications per policies and USP standards.

A day in the life…

Wondering what a day in the life of a Infusion Center Registered Nurse at The Iowa Clinic might look like?

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care.
• Review treatment plans for completeness and accuracy prior to administration.
• Verify laboratory values, treatment parameters, and provider orders before administering medications.
• Collaborate with pharmacists, providers, care coordinators, and support staff to ensure timely and safe patient care.
• Administer infusion therapies in accordance with provider orders and organizational policies.
• Safely access, maintain, and de-access implanted ports and other vascular access devices.
• Initiate and maintain peripheral IV access as appropriate.
• Perform patient assessments before, during, and after treatment.
• Monitor patients for infusion reactions and intervene appropriately.
• Provide patient education regarding medications, side effects, treatment expectations, and symptom management.
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, patient education, and responses to treatment within the electronic medical record.
• Prepare select infusion medications through countertop compounding in accordance with organizational policies, USP standards, manufacturer guidelines, and applicable safety requirements, while maintaining accuracy and quality throughout the preparation process.

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing Program required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years RN experience in infusion services preferred.
• Must possess excellent IV skills.

Required Licenses

• RN license in the state of Iowa
• BLS certification
• State of Iowa Mandatory Reporter Certification.
