Job summary

Pride Health is hiring a Phlebotomist II to support our client's healthcare facility in Hays, KS. Schedule: Central M-Th 7:30-5 and Friday 7:30-12. Location: Hays, KS 67601. Job Type: local contract.

Contract Length: 3 months + Contract to Possible. Pay Range: $17 to $21/hr. Pay offered is based on experience, credentialing, and education. Responsibilities include venipuncture, specimen processing, labeling, and proper handling in accordance with procedures and OSHA regulations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1-3 Year of phlebotomy experience in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting.
• Valid state phlebotomy certification where required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and other specimen collections using straight and butterfly needles.
• Collect, label, process, centrifuge, split, freeze, and package specimens according to established procedures.
• Verify patient information, physician orders, requisitions, and specimen labels for accuracy.
• Explain blood draw and specimen collection procedures clearly and courteously to patients.
• Maintain specimen integrity by following proper storage, temperature, transportation, and handling protocols.
• Perform equipment maintenance, decontamination, recordkeeping, and patient information updates.
• Follow OSHA and DEP regulations and complete required annual department training.
• Answer telephone inquiries and provide laboratory results as appropriate.
