A leading staffing firm is seeking a phlebotomist to assist with blood draws and specimen handling in a clinical setting. The role involves ensuring accuracy in specimen collection and storage while providing clear explanations to patients. Ideal candidates will have experience in phlebotomy and a thorough understanding of laboratory procedures.
Summary: The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
Position Responsibilities: Experience with blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifuging, recording maintenance data, decontamination, updating patient information, etc. Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures. Clearly and courteously explains the venipuncture (blood drawing) process or other specimen collection methods (e.g., urine, fecal). Demonstrates techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles. Fully understands all physician's orders. Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Labels, centrifuges, splits, and freezes specimens as required. Checks all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy. Packages specimens for transport and stores samples at required temperatures.
