Job Description
- The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the face of our company to patients, whether as part of their health routine or for insights into health decisions.
- The PSR II draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares specimens for lab testing following established procedures.
- Creates an atmosphere of trust and confidence by explaining procedures and drawing blood in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner.
- Demonstrates leadership behaviors, focusing on process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy of patient information.
- May be assigned to a doctor's office, patient service center, or as needed, performing activities accurately and timely under supervision.
- Maintains a safe, professional environment while performing forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties.
- Verifies patient demographic information and labels tubes in the patient's presence, maintaining records accordingly.
- Promotes a positive image and demonstrates organizational commitment to patients, clients, and the public.
Job Requirements
- Ability to deliver quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment, working independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.
- Adherence to all policies, including dress code, safety, and guiding principles.
- Good judgment and decision-making skills based on established procedures; reliable transportation and valid driver’s license if applicable.
- Willingness to travel and work across multiple locations with short notice.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
- Strong customer focus, open communication, adaptability, and business knowledge.
- Training locations may vary based on trainer availability.
Required Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic preferred
- Phlebotomy certification preferred
- Certification required in California, Nevada, and Washington
Work Experience
- At least three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
- Preferred: 2+ years in a Patient Service Center environment
- Experience in retail or service customer interactions preferred
- Keyboard data entry experience
