Job Description: Patient Services Representative II

The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) is the face of our company to patients, whether they are visiting for routine health procedures or important health decisions. The PSR II draws quality blood samples and prepares specimens for lab testing, adhering to established practices and procedures. This role involves direct patient contact, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence by explaining procedures and performing blood draws skillfully, safely, and accurately. The PSR II demonstrates leadership behaviors, focusing on process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy of patient information. Depending on business needs, successful applicants may be assigned to a doctor’s office, patient service center, or other locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the supervision of the area supervisor.
  2. Maintain a safe and professional environment.
  3. Collect forensic and clinical specimens following established practices and procedures.
  4. Verify patient demographic information and initials, including post-venipuncture signature, to ensure correct labeling and identification.
  5. Maintain required records and documentation.
  6. Promote a positive image and demonstrate organizational commitment to patients, clients, employees, and the public.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to deliver quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.
  • Adherence to all policies, including dress code, safety, and company principles.
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills based on established procedures.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record if applicable.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours across multiple locations.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
  • Superior customer focus and effective communication skills.

Training Locations: May vary based on trainer availability.

Educational Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical training (medical assistant or paramedic) preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Preferably two years in a Patient Service Center environment.
  • Customer service experience in retail or service sectors preferred.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience.
