Job summary

SGMC Health in Valdosta, GA is seeking a full-time Phlebotomist to collect and process specimens following policy. You will enter patient data accurately in Lab systems and serve as a public-facing representative of the Laboratory to its customers.

The role requires CPR certification, phlebotomy experience or training, and the ability to stand for long periods with good manual dexterity and communication skills. On-the-job training is provided.

Qualifications

• High school graduation preferred.
• Phlebotomy training or certification preferred.
• Current CPR certification.
• Proficiency in phlebotomy, office skills, and medical terminology.
• Demonstrate manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail in data entry.
• Must stand for long periods with frequent walking.
• Effective communication with public, physicians and hospital staff.
• Able to assess patient age-specific needs.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and process specimens per SGMC Health policies with proper patient ID.
• Enter patient demographics and billing info in the Lab systems.
• Act as Public Relations representative for the Laboratory to its customers.
• Transport specimens to the Laboratory using Lab vehicles.
• Provide non-routine departmental support as directed by Supervisor.
