Job summary

SGMC Health is seeking a phlebotomist for the Main Campus in Valdosta, GA. This full-time position works an 8-hour evening shift, 1:00 PM–9:30 PM, with rotating weekends in the PHLEBOTOMY department to obtain and process specimens per policy.

You will enter patient demographics and lab requests, manage biohazard exposure, and represent the laboratory to customers. A high school diploma or GED, phlebotomy training, CPR, and strong data-entry skills are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Prior phlebotomy or medical assistant training preferred.
• Current CPR certification.
• Competence in phlebotomy, general office skills, and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and process specimens per SGMC Health policy using correct patient ID.
• Enter lab requests, patient demographics, and billing data accurately in the hospital's Lab system.
• Serve as Public Relations representative from the Laboratory to customers.
• Transport specimens to the Laboratory using SGMC Health Lab vehicles.
