Job summary

Medical City Decatur is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform phlebotomy procedures and support routine testing. You will greet patients, collect specimens by venipuncture or capillary methods, label samples accurately, and prepare them for analysis across multiple departments.

The role reports to the Lead Phlebotomist, Lab Manager, and Laboratory Director, with required licensure/certification and a preference for acute care hospital experience. Join a team dedicated to high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months phlebotomy experience or certification through a clinical phlebotomy program may be considered in lieu of experience.
• Acute care hospital experience strongly preferred
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and instruct in proper specimen collection methods.
• Draw blood specimens by finger sticks, heel sticks, or venipunctures and collect other specimens as required.
• Label specimens for identification and enter data into the computer.
• Prepare samples for microbiology, hematology, serology, blood bank, and urinalysis.
