Job summary

Huntsville Memorial Hospital is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform venipuncture, specimen collection and handling in a hospital laboratory environment. You will ensure proper patient identification, label specimens, and transport them to the lab while maintaining PHI confidentiality and infection prevention protocols.

Under supervision, you may assist with clerical tasks, restock supplies, and support the laboratory team to ensure timely processing of tests for diverse patient populations, from

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Some college credits in biology or chemistry preferred.
• One year hospital laboratory experience preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification program with national registry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy including venipuncture and finger/heel sticks.
• Restock supplies and perform basic laboratory tasks.
• Identify patients using two identifiers and label specimens correctly.
• Transport and distribute specimens to the laboratory promptly.
• Maintain infection prevention protocols and patient confidentiality.
