Job summary

Texoma Medical Center in Denison, TX, a 414-bed acute care facility, seeks a Phlebotomist to join the Laboratory team. Under supervision, you will perform routine blood-drawing procedures, collect venous and capillary specimens, and ensure proper labeling and handling to support physicians and patients.

A high school diploma or GED is required; ASCP certification is preferred but not required. You must be able to commute between facilities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or highest education level; training/certification in phlebotomy preferred; previous experience preferred.
• ASCP certified phlebotomist is desirable but not required; commuting between facilities may be needed; proof of high school diploma or equivalent on hire.
• Must read/write, learn computer systems, and demonstrate skill in obtaining specimens from all age groups; strong verbal communication and customer service are essential.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Phlebotomy Supervisor, Lead Phlebotomists, MLT's, Lead MT/MLT, Assistant Director and Director of Lab. Responsible to perform routine blood drawing procedures including but not limited to proper collection of venous and capillary specimens. Respond to hospital codes as necessary as well as bedside testing per physician orders. This position also assists in clerical duties and processing of outpatients.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED, or highest level of education. Training and certification from National Committee for Lab Standards phlebotomy program preferred.Previous experience preferred.
• ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologist) certified as Phlebotomist desired, but not required. Must be able to commute between facilities in a timely manner. Proof of High School Diploma or equivalent required on hire.
• Must have the ability to read, write and learn a computer system. Must demonstrate knowledge and skill in obtaining laboratory specimens from all age groups. Must have good verbal communication and listening skills. Must have commitment to team operation with excellent customer service skills.
