JOB SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of a supervisor, the phlebotomist assumes the responsibility for safely performing venipunctures and related procedures under the philosophy, policies, and procedures established by hospital and lab department.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical assistant or phlebotomy certificate preferred.
  • BLS is required.
  • Knowledge of the various types of needles, anticoagulant, special handling, and preparation of test that are to be performed.
  • On the job training or vocational school training required.
  • Requires the ability to read and write to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Excellent people skills and communication skills.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
