Job summary

Texoma Medical Center in Denison, TX is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform routine blood collection across our acute care campus. Under the supervision of the Phlebotomy Supervisor, you will collect venous and capillary specimens and respond to codes as needed.

The role also supports clerical duties and outpatient processing, emphasizing accuracy, safety, and teamwork in a busy hospital environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED; phlebotomy training preferred; prior experience is a plus.
  • ASCP certification as Phlebotomist is desirable but not required; ability to commute between facilities.
  • Ability to read, write and use a computer system; strong communication and teamwork for patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine blood drawing procedures including collection of venous and capillary specimens.
  • Respond to hospital codes as necessary and bedside testing per physician orders.
  • Assist in clerical duties and processing of outpatients.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Phlebotomy Supervisor, Lead Phlebotomists, MLT's, Lead MT/MLT, Assistant Director and Director of Lab. Responsible to perform routine blood drawing procedures including but not limited to proper collection of venous and capillary specimens. Respond to hospital codes as necessary as well as bedside testing per physician orders. This position also assists in clerical duties and processing of outpatients.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED, or highest level of education. Training and certification from National Committee for Lab Standards phlebotomy program preferred.Previous experience preferred.
  • ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologist) certified as Phlebotomist desired, but not required. Must be able to commute between facilities in a timely manner. Proof of High School Diploma or equivalent required on hire.
  • Must have the ability to read, write and learn a computer system. Must demonstrate knowledge and skill in obtaining laboratory specimens from all age groups. Must have good verbal communication and listening skills. Must have commitment to team operation with excellent customer service skills.
