Job summary

STGi is seeking a Phlebotomist to provide phlebotomy services at our Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Pierre, South Dakota. The role includes specimen collection, patient preparation, and clerical support to ensure smooth clinic operations.

The candidate will perform venipuncture and related procedures, verify patient identity, and maintain accurate records while delivering compassionate patient care in a busy outpatient setting.

Qualifications

• Two years of current phlebotomy experience within the last three years.
• Certificate as Phlebotomy Technician (PBT-ASCP) or Phlebotomy Technician (RPT-AMT) preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology; test requests and results interpretation.
• Ability to handle difficult patient situations with diplomacy.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture, finger-stick, and heel-stick procedures accurately and safely.
• Process and label specimens; ensure proper accessioning and distribution.
• Review patient paperwork and guide patients through procedures.
• Assemble and prepare equipment for blood collection and testing.
• Verify patient identity and communicate with patients to ease anxiety.
• Provide front desk support and clerical tasks in the clinic as needed.
• Educate patients on specimen collection requirements and fasting rules.
