Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician (Non-Exempt) to collect blood specimens by venipuncture and capillary methods, perform EKG, pulse oximetry, and point-of-care testing for inpatients and outpatients.

Responsibilites include processing specimens, ABN preparation when needed, and ensuring accurate patient data and registration. This flex role may require travel to other campuses and locations; BLS within 3 months is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; completion of a phlebotomy training program.
• Basic life support (BLS) certification within 3 months of employment.
• Maintenance of annual BLS competencies.
• Ability to perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens by venipuncture and capillary methods.
• Perform EKG, pulse oximetry, and point-of-care testing.
• Prepare specimens and labeling; ensure proper documentation.
• Assist with registration and patient data as required.
