Job summary

Community Health Centers of the Central Coast is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform blood collection and related tasks under the supervision of the Director of Nursing. The role requires phlebotomy experience, a CA CPT license, CPR/BLS, and strong HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities include specimen collection, labeling, and transport, with emphasis on patient safety, data integrity, and adherence to infection control rules. Flexible scheduling may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with minimum two years of phlebotomy experience.
• Current California phlebotomy license (CPT) required.
• CPR/BLS certification required; must obtain if not at hire within 60 days.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedures.
• Must pass a criminal history background check and drug screen.
• Flexible schedule including possible evenings/weekends and travel.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens for laboratory testing and perform screening procedures.
• Verify patient identity and insurance eligibility via provider orders and EHR.
• Maintain specimen quality using aseptic technique and proper labeling.
• Prepare specimens for transport to laboratories and data entry into the EHR.
• Maintain a clean, sterile draw station and adhere to infection control policies.
• Adhere to HIPAA and maintain patient confidentiality.
