Job summary

Sora Resource Group is seeking a Phlebotomist (6164) in Washington DC for a contract position with potential to become permanent. The role runs Mon-Fri 7am-4pm and Sat 7:30am-11:30am, for about 3 months with potential for perm. Responsibilities include blood draws, specimen handling, and ensuring accuracy of test orders.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Must be comfortable with hard draws and geriatric patients.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Clearly explains venipuncture process to patients in a courteous manner.
• Demonstrates technique using straight and butterfly needles.
• Fully understands physicians' orders and matches requisitions to specimen tubes.
• Packages specimens for transport and stores samples at required temperatures.
• Complies with OSHA and DEP regulations and attends annual trainings.
• Responds to inquiries by reading laboratory results.
