Job summary

ALVERNO is seeking a phlebotomy technician responsible for collecting blood specimens, performing routine laboratory office duties, and processing specimens. The role includes registering patients, data entry, specimen accessioning, and handling paperwork.

The position may involve driving to other locations and potentially participating in on-call rotations; prior phlebotomy experience and a medical terminology background are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Previous phlebotomy experience and/or training is required.
• Background in a medical laboratory and/or knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
• May be required to travel/drive to other locations.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens.
• Register patients and enter data into the computer system; perform specimen accessioning and handle paperwork.
• Process specimens for testing or for sending to the central laboratory or a reference lab.
• Perform limited waived and specified non-waived POC tests as authorized by the Laboratory Director.
• In some facilities, act as a driver and participate in the on-call rotation.
